HORNELL, N.Y. (WHAM) - A fundraiser organized by a high school organization raised over $15,000 for a local cancer center Friday night.

The kids involved in the Dansville High School's Future Business Leaders of America club organized the "Hoops for Hope" fundraiser at the Dansville vs. Hornell basketball game.

The fundraiser benefited the Ann and Carl Myers Cancer Center, a partnership of UR Medicine's Wilmot Cancer Institute and Noyes Health in Dansville.

The fundraiser was in honor of Lisa Rosica, a counselor at Hornell High School who passed away from cancer three weeks ago. Her son, Nick, is a senior and three season athlete at Dansville High School.

Administration, staff and students from both Hornell and Dansville collaborated for the event, which raised a total of $15,100 for the cancer center.
