Clyde, N.Y. - A longtime patient of the Wayne County doctor facing child pornography charges says he's shocked by the allegations.

“How many kids has he done this to?" said patient Aaron Congdon. "It's disgusting.”

Congdon is a patient of Dr. David Blasczak, a family doctor who was behind bars Thursday night. Federal prosecutors say he admitted to taking pictures of his child patients under the guise of research and purchasing images and videos of child pornography.

Investigators are asking families who came into contact with Dr. Blasczak to contact Homeland Security to help with this investigation.

Blasczak walked out of the Federal Courthouse Thursday, in custody after authorities searched his home and reportedly found more than 1,000 images and videos of child pornography.

“The seriousness of the accusations against Dr. Blasczak cannot be overstated,” said Matthew Scarpino of Homeland Security.

Prosecutors say Blasczak admitted to downloading child pornography online, paying $100 per file. Prosecutors say each purchase had thousands of images or videos.

Blasczak is charged with production, receipt, distribution, and possession of child pornography.

Prosecutors also say he admitted to taking pictures of eight children at his office.

“When asked, Dr. Blasczak claimed that he was conducting his own independent research about child sex abuse and that he paid his patients on about eight different occasions to photograph their children's genitals,” said U.S. Attorney John Kennedy.

Prosecutors say he claimed he took the images for, "teaching purposes,” but authorities say he admitted he kept the photographs for his, "own gratification."

Congdon has been a patient since he was a child, nearly 28 years. Thursday's news was shocking.

“He was so easygoing. I'd show up, he'd ask me how my family was doing, how they'd been, what they'd been up to. It's just, I don't know. It's sickening,” said Congdon.

Congdon said he was disturbed when thinking back to his own physicals. “Never would have thought. 27, 28 years I've been going to him. Was he thinking about it? When he gave me physicals? I don't know. It's disturbing, honestly. Especially when you got ties in the community. Everybody knew him. Everybody took their kid to him," he said.

Federal authorities say Dr. Blasczak denies abusing his child patients. Some of his daughter's friends are also considered victims.

Blasczak is in custody and is scheduled to be back in federal court Friday.
