Miracle Field in Webster gets $75K grant
Webster, N.Y. (WHAM) - Construction of an athletic field for people with physical and cognitive challenges received some help in Webster.
The Lions Club International Foundation announced Wednesday it awarded a $75,000 grant to the Challenger Miracle Field of Greater Rochester.
The $2 million state-of-the-art Miracle Field Complex will be located at Ridge Park Athletic Complex on Ridge Road in Webster.
It is a multi-use field specifically designed for people with physical and/or cognitive challenges. The entire field has been custom designed with a cushioned surface to help prevent injuries, as well as wheelchair accessible dugouts and completely flat surfaces to eliminate any barriers to participation.
An open play space and adaptive playground will be located next to the field. A pavilion, ADA-compliant restrooms, and concessions stands will also be nearby.
The check will be presented on Saturday, October 22, at the annual Webster Lions Club Steak Roast.
Phase one of construction is underway; the field is scheduled to be completed next summer.
An additional $1.2 million is needed to complete this project. More information can be found here.
