Mt. Morris couple's surprise engagement goes viral
LETCHWORTH STATE PARK, N.Y. -- It was a familiar Sunday routine for Kayleigh Fahey.
"It was a typical day for us. We go out to see our family in Mt. Morris every Sunday,” said Fahey.
Before their family dinner, Kayleigh and boyfriend James Regatuso stopped at one of their favorite spots, Letchworth State Park. James would often have Kayleigh pose for pictures in the park.
"I thought that’s what he was doing, just trying to get a picture with an awesome view in the background, and that was going to be it,” said Fahey.
James had another plan. He was about to propose to his high school sweetheart. After a few shuffles came the picture perfect proposal.
"I honestly think, for a split second, I blacked out and I was just totally overwhelmed,” said Fahey. "There was one moment that I thought was really cute, and that's when James looks back to make sure that the camera is still standing."
Kayleigh shared the video to her Instagram where it's been viewed 40,000 times. The couple is getting well wishes from around the world.
"It's so nice to have people that don't even know you wish you so much love and happiness,” said Fahey.
James asked Kayleigh's father for permission over the summer. She had no idea until he popped the question last Sunday.
