Newark, N.Y. (WHAM) - A new center for senior citizens to receive health care and services opened in Newark this week.

ElderONE Silver Hill aims to serve people age 55 and older who are eligible for Medicare, Medicaid or both and still live at their own homes.

At the facility, senior citizens can socialize, pick up prescriptions, undergo rehabilitation, get x-rays and lab work, and many other programs. Home health care, social services, and transportation to and from the facility are also available.

“There is a significant need for medical care in rural communities, especially for senior citizens,” said Dr. Eric Bieber, President and CEO of Rochester Regional Health. “We believe you shouldn’t have to go far to get the care you need."

The center is located at 1000 Technology Parkway in Newark.

ElderONE is run by Rochester Regional Health. ElderONE was formerly known as Independent Living for Seniors. It operates three other PACE centers, all in Rochester, on Hudson Avenue, North Park Drive and Emerson Street.
