New Golisano Autism Center coming to Rochester
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - An announcement is coming Tuesday morning regarding a new Autism Center being planned in Rochester.
Community leaders and autism advocates from CP Rochester, the Golisano Foundation, AutismUp, Al Sigl Community of Agencies, and Mary Cariola Children's Center will be on hand.
A gift from Tom Golisano will go toward building the Golisano Autism Center in Rochester. Al Sigl, AutismUp, and CP Rochester are expected to lead the center, which will work to expand and enhance autism services with people with autism in the greater Rochester and surrounding areas.
An estimated 10,000 individuals live with autism in the Rochester area alone.
In March, UR Medicine opened a brand new Neuromedicine & Behavioral Health Center on East River Road.
The standalone facility combines services for those on the autism spectrum with those receiving neuromedicine and psychiatry services.
