New UR Medicine outpatient imaging center opens in Brighton
Brighton, N.Y. (WHAM) - There will be a new option for patients in Rochester looking for a CT scan or MRI.
UR Medicine opened a new outpatient imaging center on East River Road. It also serves as the region's first interventional radiology clinic.
Roughly half of the exams that used to be done in the hospital will now be performed at the new center.
The people in charge at the imaging center said one of the most noticeable improvements will be the patient experience.
"The intent was to make it much more homey, much more relaxing," said Dr. David Waldman, chairman of the Department of Imaging Sciences at the University of Rochester. "Before in the hospital, in our waiting room for CT for example, everybody's waiting together. Everybody was being prepped together. Now patients have their own individual rooms where they can get ready for their examinations and they can relax a little bit."
The features include private check-in areas and a patient tracking system to minimize delays.
