Pittsford, NY – The search for a suspect is underway after a jewelry store robbery Saturday Morning.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was called to The Source Fine Jewelers at 3300 Monroe Avenue around 11:45 am.
A clerk told deputies that a man asked to see several sets of diamond earrings, then grabbed them off the counter and ran out.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 40 years old, wearing blue sweatpants, an orange Under Armour sweatshirt, and a white hat.
Deputies say when they first pulled up, a witness pointed out the suspect who was running east toward Pittsford Colony Plaza.
Deputies followed suit, but say he was able to get away in a black Mercedes sedan.
The suspect then drove east on Monroe Avenue towards French Road, according to deputies, and that is when a perimeter was set up.
A short time later, a sergeant with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office spotted a black Mercedes matching the description heading southbound on Pinnacle Road near Calkins Road in Henrietta.
Authorities say the car ran a red light, and that’s when the sergeant tried to stop the vehicle.
Instead of stopping, the sergeant says the car took off at a high rate of speed and ran another red light at the intersection of Pinnacle and Lehigh Station Roads.
The pursuit was called off and the investigation is ongoing.
