Police: Four men taken into custody after spotted in stolen SUV

Police responded to a call about a white SUV that had been reported as stolen just after noon on Saturday.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHAM) - Four men were taken into custody after a reportedly stolen car was seen in the area of Clifford Avenue and Portland Avenue.

Police responded to a call about a white SUV that had been reported as stolen just after noon on Saturday, but the SUV was not there when they arrived.

Police say the caller claimed that one of the people in the vehicle was armed with a handgun.

Just after 12:30 p.m. an officer saw the vehicle in the area of Denver Street and Parsells Avenue.

Police say the SUV drove off when the officer confronted one of the passengers that got out of the vehicle .

The vehicle was later spotted by officers and they perused the SUV in the 400 block of Parsells Avenue, ending in the area of Ripley Street.

Police say the remaining three people in vehicle then fled on foot.

Officers established a perimeter and the three men were taken into custody.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
