NEWARK, N.Y. (WHAM) - The Wayne County Sheriff's Department and the Newark Police Department are investigating an armed robbery that happened Friday night in Newark.

According to Newark Police, officers responded to a call of an armed robbery at Crosby's Convenience Store, located on North Main Street.

The clerk at the store reported that a white male wearing a hoodie and a face mask entered the store at 11:40 p.m. The suspect had what appeared to be a hand gun and demanded money from the cash register.

The suspect left with an undetermined amount of money and was last seen running west on West Shore Boulevard.

An investigation into the robbery is ongoing.

Police say they do not believe that the robbery is related to the incident near Perkins Park, where 17-year-old Zackary Dwello died after being stabbed on Friday night.
