Popular demand brings back rare white sweet corn to Tops
WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WHAM) - Produce shelves at Tops Friendly Markets will soon be filled with a rare white sweet corn.
Amaize™ Sweet Corn is being brought back to stores in the Rochester area, according to the western New York supermarket chain.
The corn is apparently known for its incredible sweetness and crunch, and is being brought to stores from a partnership with Eden Valley Growers and Reeves Farms.
“We’re extremely excited to partner locally and bring this one of a kind sweet corn to our customers,” said Jeff Cady, director produce/floral for Tops Friendly Markets. “Our customers always look forward to this time of year and start asking for it by name as we edge into the later summer months.”
Amaize was discovered by two breeders after 23 years and 10,000 variations of testing.
