ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHAM) - Brighton Town Board member Robin Wilt will be announcing her bid for New York's 25th Congressional District this week.

Wilt is scheduled to make the announcement Monday April 16 at 5:30 p.m. at 1872 Cafe.

She will be running for late Congresswoman Louise Slaughter's seat as a Democrat.

“To continue Louise Slaughter’s progressive legacy, we need a Congresswoman who won’t sit back and wait, but who will go out and fight for progress,” said Wilt. “As a tested and unflinching advocate for the people of Monroe County, our woman-led campaign is ready to fight for the issues that matter most to our community: healthcare, economic equity, criminal justice reform and optimism and opportunity for our children.”

Assemblyman Joe Morelle, City Councilman Adam McFadden, and former TV journalist Rachel Barnhart are expected to run for the seat as Democrats.

Neurosurgeon Dr. Jim Maxwell is running for the vacant seat as a Republican.
