Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - A Rochester man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he impersonated a police officer, robbed a woman at a hotel and led them on a chase.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said they were called to the Days Inn on W. Henrietta Road around 5:05 p.m. for a family problem.

When they arrived and knocked on the door to the hotel room in question, 23-year-old Daniel Nwosu smashed out a window and ran from the room with a gun in his hand.

A deputy ran after him, at which time Nwosu pointed the gun at the deputy, then dropped it and continued running. Nwosu ran into a wooded area but was caught by the deputy and taken into custody.

Investigators found the gun dropped by Nwosu and determined it was a BB gun. Nwosu was interviewed by investigators and admitted to his actions.

Other deputies on scene talked with the woman who was in the hotel room where Nwosu smashed out the window. She told deputies that Nwosu forced his way into her room, identified himself as a police officer and had the gun in his hand. He then allegedly stole cash from the victim.

Nwosu was charged with robbery 2nd, burglary 2nd, criminal impersonation of a police officer, menacing 2nd, and resisting arrest.

He was arraigned in Henrietta Town Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $35,000 cash bail or $70,000 bond.
