ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHAM) - Rochester Optical has announced their partnership with local nonprofits, Freedom Firm and the Rochester Regional Coalition Against Human Trafficking in fundraising efforts to help end human trafficking of women and girls.

Beginning January 11, store guests will have the option to make a purchase of eye wear and receive a free bracelet, pair of earrings, or a necklace made by women rescued from human trafficking.

Proceeds go toward the efforts to find, rescue and stabilize women and children in suitable environments and provide much needed-care.

Freedom Firm, the owner of Ruhamah’s Jewelry, creates handmade jewelry made by rescued women.

“The help that Rochester Optical is providing to these women through this fundraiser is worth so much more than a piece of jewelry or a pair of glasses," said Christalin Velraj of Ruhamah’s Jewelry. "It’s a chance, a real chance at a normal life and we are so grateful to have partnered with them on this."

The jewelry will be on display in each Rochester Optical store, for sale, or as a gift with each purchase of glasses.
