Sam Hoyt, top ESD official in Buffalo, subject of harassment investigation
Bufflao, N.Y. (WHAM) - A top official of Empire State Development in Buffalo is the subject of a harassment investigation.
Sam Hoyt, who resigned as the Buffalo Regional President this week, is also a former New York State Assemblyman.
According to our ABC affiliate WKBW, a woman with whom Hoyt had a relationship filed a complaint after the relationship went sour.
In a statement made through his attorney Tuesday, Hoyt said the relationship ended a year ago, and that he and his wife agreed to pay a $50,000 settlement to avoid embarrassing their family.
A spokesperson for Governor Andrew Cuomo said Hoyt was ordered to have no further contact with the complainant. An investigation by the New York Inspector General's Office is continuing.
