Snow starts to hammer Rochester; Visibility a challenge for drivers

White-out conditions are just one of the pitfalls for those out and about in the Greater Rochester area Saturday night. (WHAM photo, from the Chevy Mobile Weather Authority)

Rochester, N.Y. - White-out conditions are just one of the pitfalls for those out and about in the Greater Rochester area Saturday night.

North of the NYS Thruway, accumulations will be in the range of 5-9 inches, but 13WHAM's latest models show much lower amounts south of the Thruway, where 2-5 inches are expected.

After midnight, you can expect more bitter cold with sub-zero wind chills.

Our Chevy Mobile Weather Authority was cruising area roadways, capturing some of the treacherous conditions.

The Lake Ontario State Parkway was a mess, where we spotted a truck or two off the road. Poor visibility posed a challenge, along with the slippery roads.
