Students bring the prom to nursing home seniors
Irondequoit, N.Y. - High school seniors and senior citizens had a ball at St. Ann's Home Friday.
The students at Bishop Kearney High School, who are all members of the Honor Society, dressed in their formal best and brought the "prom" to residents of St. Ann's.
There was a lot of dancing, friendships made and memories shared.
"I've been making all sorts of movements, you know, trying to pretend I'm dancing, but I've never danced in my life," said George Veach, 86. "I'm having a good time."
"The event for us is eye-opening because, especially in high school, you always see high school kids around and it's really nice to talk to people from different perspectives and they are also open to talk," said Annie Heyen, a senior at Bishop Kearney. "And they love dancing, so that's always fun."
The Senior to Senior Ball is a tradition that's been going on for over 20 years.
