Teen rescued by boat after falling into Genesee River gorge

The Rochester Fire Department rescued a 17-year-old boy from the Genesee River gorge Sunday evening.

Rochester, N.Y. - The Rochester Fire Department rescued a 17-year-old boy from the Genesee River gorge Sunday evening.

The RFD responded to Maplewood Park for reports of a person that fell into the gorge near the Driving Park bridge around 6 pm.

Firefighters couldn't find the victim at first, but after walking down the path to investigate, another teenager directed them to the victim.

Crews were able to rescue the victim by about around 6:30 pm.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

It's unclear why the teenagers were in the gorge area.
