Travel Advisory issued for Livingston County
(WHAM) - Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty has issued a travel advisory effective immediately for Livingston County.
The advisory goes until midnight tonight.
The travel advisory does not restrict travel but does advise that hazardous travel conditions exist and to use due care and caution if you have to be out on Livingston County roadways.
Deputy Sheriffs and other area law enforcement have handled numerous weather related vehicle crashes this morning and this afternoon.
The Sheriff's Department says they want everyone to have a safe holiday weekend and make sure the roads are a safe place to travel for the motoring public.
Deputies have been directed to thoroughly investigate each crash and issue appropriate tickets for infractions such as speed imprudent to weather conditions, distracted driving (texting, phone calls without hands free), unsafe tires, tailgating and other violations that would cause the crash.
Sheriff Dougherty is urging people to slow their speeds and drive to the conditions and/or stay off the roads if they don’t have to be out.
