Two convicted of triple stabbing, shooting outside Rochester sports bar
Rochester, N.Y. – Two men have been convicted in a shooting and stabbing incident that happened outside a Rochester bar last year.
Flor Rivera was convicted of first, second and third degree assault for stabbing three people outside Sports on Tap last December. Rivera’s brother, Heribeto Rivera-Mateo, was convicted of second degree assault for shooting one of the three victims. He was also convicted of two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
The defendants jumped Scott Richardson outside Sports on Tap on December 3, 2016. Richardson’s friend, Keith Larkin, attempted to intervene, and was stabbed by Rivera seven times. During this time, Rivera-Mateo shot Richardson. A third victim, Melanie Christmas, came out of the bar and was stabbed by Rivera.
Rivera and Rivera-Mateo are scheduled to be sentenced in November. Rivera faces up to 25 years in prison, while Rivera-Mateo faces up to 15 years.
