Farmington, N.Y. (WHAM) - A Farmington woman was arrested Tuesday in connection with a dog abandonment case.

According to the Ontario County Humane Society, they were called on August 21 about a dog that was left in a cage on the porch of a house on Running Brook Road.

There was a note attached, asking the homeowner to find the dog a good home. The dog, a female terrier mix, remains in good health.

After a tip from the dog’s previous owner, Humane Society investigators found the dog had been left at the home by 21-year-old Lauren Amaya.

Amaya reportedly acquired the dog, but was unable to keep her because she did not get along with another dog.

She was arrested and charged with animal abandonment. Amaya is scheduled to appear in Farmington Town Court at a later date.
