Woman dies after hit-and-run on Clifford Avenue
Rochester, N.Y. - A Rochester woman is dead after a hit-and-run crash on Clifford Avenue Friday night.
Police were called to the area of 275 Clifford Avenue for the report of a pedestrian struck just before 6:30 p.m.
According to police, 62-year-old Nilsa Rivera was walking along the south edge of the roadway when she was hit by a vehicle heading east on Clifford Avenue. The vehicle reportedly did not stop.
Rivera was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she died around 7 p.m.
Police believe the striking vehicle was a small, dark SUV. The stretch of Clifford Avenue where the crash happened was closed for several hours as police investigated.
No arrests have been made yet.
The Major Crimes unit is conducting an investigation.
