Woman sent to hospital after fire on Alphonse Street

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHAM) - One woman was sent to the hospital after a fire broke out in a single family home on Alphonse Street Saturday afternoon.

According to the Rochester Fire Department, a crews responded to a hose fire at 263 Alphonse Street at 1:31 p.m.

Crews arrived on scene at 1:33 p.m. and found smoke coming from the residence.

The family, a mother and three children, were starting to evacuate the home when crews arrived.

They were assisted with getting out of the house and the fire was under control at 1:50 p.m.

The mother was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage to the home is under investigation.

Red Cross was called in for emergency housing.
