That '25 friends' post on Facebook? It's a hoax
(WHAM) - Before you ask, the answer is no.
No, Facebook is not limiting you to seeing a group of 25 pre-selected friends in your News Feed.
This copy-and-paste Facebook status has been seen by a variety of people across the spectrum of Facebook.
The popular myth and hoax debunking site Snopes has written about the status update and its origins.
"Friends don't let friends copy and paste memes, and this one simply is not true," a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement. "We rank News Feed based on how relevant each post might be to you, and while we've made some updates that could increase the number of posts you see from your friends, your News Feed isn't limited to 25 of them."
In a blog post last month, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the News Feed on Facebook will soon be tailored to focus more on family and friends, as opposed to other pages and extraneous posts. This likely catalyzed the status by some misinformed people and others who just may be seeking attention and extra comments and reactions.
