Heavy flooding in Utica leaves cars submerged in water

Heavy flooding in Utica (State DOT)

Utica, NY (WHAM) - The city of Utica is dealing with intense flooding.

The Oneida County Office of the County Executive says the travel advisory is effective immediately due to the heavy rain and flooding.

County Executive Anthony Picente is telling residents to avoid any unnecessary travel in Utica and its surrounding areas until further notice.

Earlier Saturday morning, the National Weather Service in Birmingham reported that cars were submerged in water due to a possible sink hole in Utica on Route 12.

This is the same location where crews were performing a water rescue.
