More than $6 million in illegal tobacco seized by NYS in 2017

Albany, N.Y. – More than $6 million in illegal tobacco was taken off New York State streets over the course of the last year.

Governor Cuomo said the state’s Cigarette Strike Force seized about $6.6 million worth of illegal tobacco, an increase of nearly $1 million from last year.

85 accused cigarette and tobacco smugglers have been arrested and are facing more than $7 million in fines, according to the state.
