Feds: Gun found in RCSD school dumpster linked to planned hit on student
Rochester, N.Y./Allenwood, PA (WHAM) - A corrections officer at a Pennsylvania prison helped to stop an attempted murder on a student at a Rochester school earlier this month, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
On April 5, Rochester Police investigated a call from someone out of state about a gun in a dumpster at School No. 7 at the Jefferson school campus.
The call to Rochester Police, according to federal officials, was made after routine monitoring of inmate phone conversations.
An inmate at Allenwood Correctional Facility had two phone conversations about a possible hit on a student at a school in Rochester.
Federal investigators listened to the recorded calls and determined the inmate was trying to stop a hit on a student.
In less than two hours, the high school had been placed on lockout as officers searched for and discovered a handgun in the dumpster.
Rochester Police have not yet made any arrests in connection with the handgun being found.
