Rochester, N.Y. - Honor Flight Rochester welcomed home 40 veterans Sunday, celebrating its 50th mission.

Since their first flight in 2008 -- Honor Flight has flown over 2300 veterans to Washington D.C. at no cost.

13WHAM's Don Alhart was with those vets this weekend for their two day trip, where they visited numerous landmarks including the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials and the Washington Monuments, as well as Arlington National Cemetery.

"When I got discharged in the 50s, everything was bad and I wasn't welcomed home by anybody, but my parents," said Earl Tieppo, a veteran who was thrilled by the hero's welcome at the Greater Rochester International Airport Sunday. "This kind of makes up for it. This really moves me."
