The Orange fell behind by 11 at the half, but tightened up their defense in the second to pull within one point with less than thirty seconds left. But down by two, Brandon Triche was called for a charge, giving the ball back to the Wolverines.
Michigan would hit one of two free-throws to make it a three point game. But Trevor Cooney missed on a drive to the hoop, leading to a game-clinching dunk for Michigan.
C.J. Fair led the way for Syracuse with 22 points. Senior Brandon Triche closed out his Syracuse career with 11. Michael Carter-Williams and James Southerland both struggled throughout. Carter-Williams finished with just two points, while Southerland had only five.
