Eichel pulling the strings in Buffalo? Don't buy it, says Gionta
The big story on Wednesday was a report from WGR 550 in Buffalo that Jack Eichel did not want to sign a contract extension if the Sabres retained Dan Bylsma.
Well the big story Thursday was that the Sabres fired both Bylsma and general manager Tim Murray.
An easy hot take was to say that Jack Eichel got exactly what he wanted, and had assumed virtual control over the Sabres.
But Eichel and his agent Peter Fish both strongly denied the report on Wednesday, and on Thursday, he got some backup.
Brian Gionta, who spent the past three years as the Sabres captain, came to Eichel's defense on Thursday.
