For about 50 minutes, the Amerks dominated the Chicago Wolves and looked well on their way to their first playoff win in four years.
But after a furious comeback by Chicago, the wait will continue for at least another day.
The Wolves scored two goals in the final six minutes to send the game into overtime, then won it just over a minute into the extra period, defeating the Amerks 4-3 in game one of their Calder Cup Playoff opener.
Rochester got goals from Joel Armia, Nick Deslauriers, and Luke Adam on their way to a 3-1 lead through two periods of play.
The Amerks will look to bounce back in game two on Saturday, before the series heads to Chicago for the final three games.
