Bills add Jordan Palmer, release Thad Lewis

The Buffalo Bills added a new quarterback to the mix, signing Jordan Palmer to a deal. Palmer, who is also known as a player-coach type of quarterback, will compete for the backup job to EJ Manuel.
Thad Lewis on the other hand is no longer part of that competition. Lewis was released on Tuesday to help make room for Palmer.
Lewis was considered a lock to at least make the roster, if not win the backup quarterback job coming into training camp. But he struggled on a nearly daily basis at St. John Fisher, and in the team's first three preseason games. He did not get a snap in Buffalo's fourth game, a loss to Tampa Bay.
Lewis started five games for Buffalo in place of an injured EJ Manuel last year, and performed admirably, going 2-3 with both wins coming against division rival Miami. Lewis threw four touchdowns and three interceptions in his starts for Buffalo
