Knighthawks move into first place tie with win in Philadelphia

(March 16, 2014)… The Rochester Knighthawks moved into a tie for first place in the East Division after recording their second victory of the weekend. Rochester (9-3) downed Philadelphia 11-7 at the Wells Fargo Center to complete a three-game series sweep against the Wings.
Rochester led start to finish and netted the game’s final three goals to win their fourth straight game. Forward Craig Point made his return to the lineup with four goals and one assist. Cody Jamieson notched one goal and five assists, while Dan Dawson chipped in three goals and two assists.
The Knighthawks, who played less than 24 hours ago, roared out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter. Brad Self struck first at 2:33 and Point followed with his first of the game at 3:02. After Dawson made it 3-0, Point ripped a shot from the left wing and it was 4-0. Jordan Hall notched both Philadelphia goals in the first half, including one at 11:40 in the first. His second followed Point’s third of the contest, which made it 5-2. The hat trick was Point’s second of the season.
Joe Walters opened the third quarter with his first of the game as he rifled a long-range shot past Brandon Miller at 3:39 to give Rochester a 7-3 lead. Walters’ next goal was part of a three-goal run by the Knighthawks that broke open an 8-7 game.
Jamieson notched Rochester’s ninth goal of the game on a great dive and finish at 1:02 of the fourth. After Walters’ goal, Point slammed home his own rebound for an 11-7 lead. Matt Vinc did the rest as the veteran goalie made 41 saves.
