Red Wings Win 7th Straight

Updated: Monday, May 19 2014, 11:16 PM EDT

The Rochester Red Wings won their seventh straight game and extended their season-long home streak to 10 games with a 4-0 victory over the Toledo Mud Hens Monday night. The Wings have now won seven straight for the first time since last July (7/24-30) and have won 10 in a row at home for the first since 2008. The seven-game skid is the longest active streak in the IL. Monday’s win gives Rochester their second series win in a row and their sixth of the season.

Trevor May was fantastic in eight scoreless innings as he allowed just four hits and four walks while striking out six. May has now thrown 14 consecutive scoreless innings in back-to-back wins for the Red Wings. Over this stretch, the right-hander has allowed just seven hits and six walks while striking out 12. May tied a career-high with his eight innings pitched. Prior to Monday, his last eight-inning outing came Aug. 27, 2012 with Reading (AA). While picking up his third win of the season, May lowered his ERA to 3.35 and his batting average against to .196.

THE Red Wings turned in their sixth shutout of the season on Monday night – the second-most in the IL (SYR, 7). The Wings had 10 shutouts all of last season. Trevor May has started the last two shutouts for the Wings (5/13 vs. COL). May tossed a complete-game in a rain-shortened affair throwing six innings allowing three hits and two walks while striking out six in his last start.

Oswaldo Arcia blasted a three-run home run in the fourth inning to give the Wings a 3-0 lead. The home run was his fourth of the season and fourth of the homestand (7 games) as he becomes the first Wings player to homer in back-to-back games this season. Over the homestand, Arcia is now 8-for-25 with 2 doubles, 4 home runs, 10 runs and 9 RBI.
