If this was the World Cup, the South Region would be nicknamed "The Group Of Death".
The Syracuse mens basketball team was given the 3 seed in the South region for the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
Syracuse will play its first round matchup against Western Michigan on Thursday. If they advance, they will play the winner of Ohio State and Dayton.
The Orange will play their first two games at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo. If Cuse advances, they will play the rounds of 16 and 8 in Memphis.
The road to the final four will be very difficult for the Orange. The South region also includes number 1 overall seed Florida, 2 seed Kansas, and 4 seed UCLA.
Syracuse finished the season 27-5 after a 25-0 start.
But despite finishing the season in a slump, there is reason for optimism for Syracuse fans. The Orange were the 3 seed in 2003 when they won the National Championship.
