Wings Move to First Place

The Red Wings finished off their first four-game sweep of Norfolk since 1993 with a 5-3 win in the series finale on Monday night at Frontier Field... With Pawtucket’s 9-1 loss to Lehigh Valley, the Wings are now in sole possession of first place in the IL North for the first time this late into a season since June 28, 2006... Rochester tied a season-high with their 6th straight win on Monday and set a season-high with their 6th straight home win... The Wings will look to extend their winning streak to 7 games when they open a four-game set in Lehigh Valley on Tuesday night
→The Red Wings have now swept four, four-game series this season for the first time since 1990... The Wings beat Norfolk for the 7th straight game and for the 10th time in the last 12 meetings dating back to last season... The victory was also the Wings 9th straight and 13 of 14 against an IL South squad... The Wings have now won 19 games in July for the first time since 1999 and have their winningest month since a 20-win August in 2008.
