No 'Madness' for Syracuse Orange this year

There will be no final four run for Syracuse this season.

The Orange were left out of the field of 68, and will likely be NIT bound next week.

Syracuse's resume had its selling points, but clearly the selection committee decided the negatives outweighed the positives. The Orange had three wins against top ten teams (Virginia, Florida State, and Duke), and finished above .500 in the best conference in college basketball (ACC).

But just two wins away from the Carrier Dome were one of many things that appear to have doomed the Orange. Syracuse also lost five of its last seven games, including the opening game of the ACC tournament against Miami, and finished with a terrible RPI of 84.

As a result, the Orange are NIT bound. They were given a one-seed, and will host UNC Greensboro in the first round on Tuesday night at the Carrier Dome.
