Wings hold on against Norfolk
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) -- ByungHo Park hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning, leading the Rochester Red Wings to a 3-2 win over the Norfolk Tides on Saturday.
The home run by Park scored Matt Hague to give the Red Wings a 2-1 lead.
The Red Wings tacked on another run in the fifth when Mitch Garver hit a solo home run.
Norfolk saw its comeback attempt come up short after Pedro Alvarez hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Drew Dosch in the sixth inning to cut the Rochester lead to 3-2.
Garver homered and doubled for Rochester.
Rochester right-hander Aaron Slegers (13-4) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on eight hits over 7 1/3 innings. Opposing starter Mike Wright (3-5) took the loss in the International League game after allowing three runs and six hits over 4 2/3 innings. Mason Melotakis pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings for his first save of the season.
Dosch tripled, doubled and singled, scoring two runs for the Tides.
