Big comeback helps Amerks snap skid, 4-3 in OT
The Rochester Americans scored three unanswered goals in the third period and overtime, finishing off a comeback win over the Springfield Thunderbirds 4-3.
The Amerks were trailing 3-1 after two, and had registered just 12 shots on goal through the first 40 minutes. But they peppered the net early and often in the third, and eventually it paid off. Derek Grant scored at the 11:04 mark to cut the lead to 3-2, then scored again with 2:26 remaining to tie the game. They were just his second and third goals of the year.
Cole Schneider netted his 20th goal of the season in overtime to win it for Rochester.
The Amerks continue a busy weekend Saturday in Syracuse before returning home Sunday to once again host Springfield.
