Gionta brings crowd to its feet, but Amerks fall 4-2
If this is Brian Gionta's only game with the Rochester Americans, he made it one to remember.
The Greece native, putting on an Amerks sweater for the first and perhaps only time, scored a second period goal, bringing the crowd of nearly 10,000 to its collective feet, leading to chants of "USA, USA".
It would have been a perfect night, if only Rochester had won. The Amerks gave up a pair of third period goals against division rival Toronto, falling 4-2 in a matchup of two of the AHL's top three teams.
Toby Motyka reports from the game.
