Knighthawks rally falls short in Buffalo
Buffalo, NY - The Rochester Knighthawks fell just short tonight at the First Niagara Center, dropping a 14-12 decision to the Buffalo Bandits.
Rochester was led offensively by Dan Dawson, who posted two goals and five assists. Cody Jamieson connected for five points (3+2), while Joe Walters (1+3) and Stephen Keogh (0+4) chipped in four-point efforts. Rochester battled back the entire game as it erased two four-goal deficits.
The first Knighthawks' run came in the second quarter. Rochester ended the first 30 minutes of play by scoring five of the game's last six goals. Cody Jamieson's goal with two seconds to play tied the contest at six. The first half was highlighted by Josh Gillam's first goal as a Knighthawks and Ty Thompson's first professional goal. Brad Gillies tallied his first pro goal with 20 seconds to play in third quarter to get Rochester within one at 9-8.
Rochester's second rally came early in the fourth quarter, as the Knighthawks stormed back with four goals in a span of 3:19 to tie the contest at 12. Quinn Powless started the surge with his second goal as a Knighthawks at 4:11. Walters and Brad Self followed suit and Jamieson tied the contest at 7:29 off a great individual effort.
