Rochester, N.Y. - The Rochester Red Wings announced Friday afternoon that they would be extending their contract with the Minnesota Twins.

The partnership between the two teams began in 2003.

On Friday, the Red Wings and Twins extended their player development contract through the 2018 season.

"The Twins...have regularly fielded winning teams here and we've seen a lot of great players come through Rochester," said Naomi Silver, President/CEO/COO of the Rochester Red Wings. "Every month someone from the Twins top management comes to town to see their players and to consult with field personnel and our front office. We consider ourselves lucky that the Minnesota Twins respect and appreciate our organization and want to continue this affiliation."

From 1961 to 2002, the Red Wings were an affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles.

The Red Wings will play Friday night at 7:05 against the Buffalo Bisons.
