Wings bash three homers in win, stay alive in wild card chase

Syracuse Silences Rochester on the Road

Time may be running out for the Red Wings, but they're certainly slowing down the clock.

John Ryan Murphy, Daniel Palka, and Adam Brett Walker all homered for the Wings, leading them to a 5-1 win over Syracuse on Tuesday night.

The win, coupled with Lehigh Valley's 2-0 victory over Pawtucket, kept Rochester 3.5 games behind the IronPigs with just six games to go. Lehigh Valley's magic number to clinch a playoff spot and eliminate the Red Wings down to four.

Omar Bencomo picked up the win in relief, pitching 4.2 innings of one run ball, racking up seven strikeouts.

The Wings will play host to Syracuse again on Wednesday, before closing out the season with five straight games against Lehigh Valley.
