Rochester Rhinos to play in renamed Capelli Sport Stadium

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - The Rochester Rhinos will have a shiny new name to play in their stadium this spring.

Capelli Sport will be the uniform supplier for the USL men's soccer team, will outfit the team and the youth leagues. In addition, Capelli Sport will be the official stadium naming rights partner for the Rhinos as the club enters the 2017 USL season.

The announcement was made Tuesday.

“It’s a great fit for both Capelli Sport and the Rochester Rhinos,” Capelli Sport’s Sporting Director Jason Arnold said. “We appreciate the history of the Rochester Rhinos and their ability to continuously provide a quality product, both on and off the field."

The first home game for the Rhinos is scheduled for April 23 against FC Montreal.

The Rochester Rhinos were founded in 1996 and most recently won the 2015 league championship.

The move is a hopeful one for the Rochester soccer scene, which recently lost its professional women's soccer team, the WNY Flash, to North Carolina.
