Syracuse faces unfamiliar foe, led by familiar face
For more than a decade, Jim Boeheim and Jamie Dixon faced off as Big East, and eventually ACC rivals.
Boeheim of course has been at Syracuse his entire career. Dixon was at Pitt from 2003-2016.
On Friday, their rivalry will be renewed in the NCAA tournament, but Dixon is now at his alma mater, TCU.
Dixon has done a fantastic job with the Horned Frogs, taking over a team that was the doormat of the Big 12, and turning it into a top-25 caliber squad in just two seasons. They would be a difficult test for the Orange, even if Dixon wasn't the coach.
But the challenge is even more significant with him at the helm.
Dixon was 15-6 against the Orange during his time in Pittsburgh, and while Syracuse's signature 2-3 zone is effective come tournament time against teams unfamiliar with it, you can be sure that Dixon will let his team know exactly what to expect.
