Pullman Ave. shooting suspect surrenders

Rochester, N.Y. -- The suspect in Wednesday's double-shooting on Pullman Avenue in Rochester surrendered himself to police without incident Thursday.

Marcus Freeman, 26, surrendered himself shortly after 4 p.m. at 48 2nd Street.

Police say Freeman was alone, but would not say if he was armed.

Freeman is suspected of killing Walesy Alvarez, 27, and wounding a 34-year-old man on Pullman Avenue Wednesday.

Police credit tips from the public for leading them to Freeman.

Freeman was also indicted in June for the alleged rape of a child who was younger than 13 back in March. Additionally, in May, Freeman himself was shot on Pullman Ave.

Police say Freeman will likely be arraigned on Friday. Currently, he's in custody at the Public Safety Building.

"This is just the beginning," said Deputy Chief Mike Wood.
