Humane Society names rescued dog

Lyons, N.Y. - The pit bull mix, that was rescued by a state trooper on Route 104 this week, now has a name and will be made available for adoption in the future.

The Humane Society of Wayne County tells us they are calling the dog "Hope" and she will be adopted once her injuries have healed.

She remains in the care of a vet in Wayne County, but she will likely be taken to the Humane Society next week.

13WHAM's Sean Carroll met her today, and says Hope has a playful and sweet demeanor despite deep wounds around her neck from an in-grown collar and harness.

On Tuesday night, a trooper found her darting through traffic in Williamson near Spencer Speedway.

An animal cruelty investigation is underway and police are looking for information that helps them locate her owner.
