Hundreds without power in Rochester Tuesday

Rochester, N.Y. - Hundreds of homes are in the dark in the area of Genesee and Shelter Streets in Rochester Tuesday morning.

RG&E said that problems with an underground cable left around 1,100 people without power early Tuesday, but nearly 800 homes had their electricity back on by 6:30 a.m.

However, the company said that efforts to restore power at the remaining homes are being complicated by a water main break. A representative for RG&E said the break will have to be fixed before power is restored.
