Flooding, evacuations as river crests in Batavia

Batavia, N.Y. - With melting ice and heavy rain over the weekend, local creeks are running high.

Several people were evacuated from their homes on Law Street in Batavia overnight because of high waters from flooding.

That's right near Tonawanda Creek which crested three feet above the flood stage Sunday night.

Firefighters said the water was so high at least one car was partially floating in the road.

There are flood warnings for Tonawanda Creek in Batavia, Black Creek at Churchville and Oatka Creek in Monroe County
