Duffy: Focus on local investors, keeping Bills in WNY

Henrietta, N.Y.Lieutenant Bob Duffy has long been a fan of keeping the Buffalo Bills in Western New York.

Thursday, he told a reporter with the Associated Press not to rule out Niagara County as potential sites for the teams new homeshould it decide to relocate at the conclusion of its lease.

Duffy is part of the New Stadium Working Group, a committee formed to seek potential new stadium sites within Erie County. Thursdays comments expanded the area further, as did his elaboration on Friday.

The City of Buffalo, Erie County, Niagara County, the entire region would be open, said Duffy. Its not up to the committee to define so much where the stadium will be. Its not a policy making committee, it makes recommendations.

Also on Thursday, The Bleacher Reports Dan Pompei reported that rock start Jon Bon Jovi who had expressed previous interest in the team, is expected to make a play for the teamfollowing the death of owner Ralph Wilson Jr.

I heard the same thing about Mr. Bon Jovi, Duffy stated. Theres no doubt to own an NFL team is something thats very prestigious.

Duffy pointed out that the teams lease runs for another seven years and includes a hefty $400 million buyout.

Its up to us, we have the time and opportunity to work with investors in Western New York and hopefully insure somebody buys the teamthat keeps them in Buffalo, Duffy said.

Bills season ticket holder Nancy Bauma said she prefers the team to stay where it is.

I want them to stay right in Orchard park I have so many memories of, you know decades of just having fun in Orchard Park, said Bauma of Pittsford. Tailgating we have some of the best tailgating in the country, were a strong fan base in the NFL.
